Let’s say goodbye to 2020 on an energetic note. Silas Murray (BTS Providence) and Addison Ray (BYW) , our programming leaders, joined kids and coaches from Boston and Providence yesterday for the 3rd Annual Winter Clinic led by Guest Clinician, Jakob Restrepo.
“Jakob was so upbeat and grateful for the experience. He continues to work on giving back to the wrestling community and was impressed by the group of wrestlers who showed up today.” Boston Program Coordinator, Addison, recapped the event.
When asked about the experience, Jakob replied “wrestlers always find a way to get things done.” His track record shows a line up of how he got things done.
Providence Program Director, Silas Murray wrestled under Jakob’s dad in high school. Born into a coaching family he lives and works in the wrestling community, sharing his skills on the job at a New York high school from his days of collegiate wrestling at the University of Maryland and many championship wins. At this pace, Jakob kept the 90-minute work-out high energy.
Attendees reported burning, sore, and tense legs after performing a stance motion for extended periods of time. Logan Berry from Mayo Quanchi Club won the stance challenge. For the workout challenge, his older brother Aydin won. Skylah Chakouian was excited to take away a raffle prize at the close of the clinic.
As we reflect on 2020, we want to take a moment to honor the journeys we have been on. What have we learned this year and will carry forward with us?
