Summer 2022 has been an eventful one for BTSNE!

This summer we had the opportunity to travel, compete, learn, share, give, and collaborate with some incredible people! Beat The Streets New England is beyond grateful for the amount of support and resources given to our youth athletes from the surrounding communities. We were able to carry out a series of events around health and wellness, competition and training, and unity.

All while providing our youth access to healthy meals, transportation, and a fighting chance!

We’ve had a very busy and fun summer!

JUNE

Day of Fitness – Launched our summer fun by inviting everyone to show us how they “Fit”

Associate’s Board Announcement – 15 Community members in college, career, trade and service commit their time and talent to New England.

Headlocks on the Hudson – Freestyle and Greco tournament kick off and we have 4 Champions and all athletes were top 3 placers! Great job BTSNE!

Final X New York – BTSNE took on BTS NYC at Final X at Madison Square Garden! All 3 wrestlers came back victorious!

BTS National Duals – History is made FIRST EVER National Duals with all 11 Beat the Streets Cities representing. BTSNE Girls are crowned the first ever NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

JULY

CIT’s ( Coaches in Training) – Kicks off as a NEW program in Providence and continues 6 years of success in Boston. Hiring 13 young people to lead all summer while earning a competitive wage.

United States Marine Corps Nationals / FARGO – BTSNE Sponsors 7 athletes to compete in the biggest tournament in the world!

United Shades with Kamau Bell – Our CEO Bior Guigni is spotlighted on Season 7, Episode 3 “ Athletes and the cost of winning”

AUGUST

Lynn Shore Showdown – Hosted by the Mayor of Lynn Jared Nicholson, BTSNE had 75 wrestlers , mostly OPEN vision compete and raise money for Lynn Wrestling.

Shutdown Camp – BTSNE – Providence hosted a week long end of summer camp for 125 wrestlers. RIC, JWU, BROWN, New England RTC, other amazing clinicians helped our young people develop their skills.

Boston & Providence Block Party – Hosted by the Providence Police Department (Providence) & BCYF- Hawthorne Community Center ( Boston) our Community kids enjoyed a day of activities, food, and safety!

Boston & Providence Travis Manion Foundation Character Does Matter Event – For the 3rd year in a row BTSNE CIT’s grow and learn through TMF!

Camp Hale Clinic – 5 year partnership of our CIT’s going to Camp Hale and running summer wrestling activites!

Haley House x Hawthorne Community Center Garden – NEW Partner to expand our plots to (3) this year!

Boston Police Panel – CIT’s asked some tough questions to a panel of BPD officers, detectives, and leaders of color.

Providence MT. Hope Summer Learning Program – Providence CIT’s hosted wrestling activities!

Roger Williams Park Botanical Garden – Providence CIT’s learned how to cook using fresh ingredients from our gardens!

Boston Children’s Museum – Boton CIT’s mentored the next generation of gardners on their roof top garden!

Boston Police Harbor Ride – BPD took our Boston CIT’s out on the harbor to discuss safety!
