A Decade of Service: Building the BTSNE Foundation
Over the past decade,
Beat the Streets New England
(BTSNE) has made a tremendous impact through wrestling,
Giving Kids a Fighting Chance
! Our efforts have led to more than 7,500 kids being served, and BTSNE has employed nearly 80 youths and young adults. Also, we have worked in more than 27 sites across New England and amassed more than 1,500,000 hours of mentorship coaching.
The foundation for modern-day BTSNE dates back to 2012. It started with our founders,
José Valenzuela
(Boston Youth Wrestling) and
Billy Watterson
(Beat the Street Providence). Two like-minded organizations focused on providing wrestling-based youth development in their local communities before uniting as one in 2021 to make their shared visions a reality: A world full of opportunity for our most vulnerable youth, a future where all students succeed on the mat, in the classroom, and in life!
With that, we wanted to take a look back and reflect on our ten years of service throughout New England!
Make sure you tune in from April to September as we look back and relive other memorable moments, youth accomplishments, staff achievements, and so much more from decade number one.
